Invalidate the CDN cache by tag

By Steven Van ·

Vercel adds tag-based CDN cache invalidation and deletion, available on all plans via dashboard, CLI, or API.

Vercel now supports invalidating CDN cache contents by tag. Tagged content is marked stale, and the next request gets served the stale version instantly while revalidation happens in the background, so there's no latency impact for users. Invalidation is available from the Dashboard, Settings, Vercel CLI, the Function API, and the REST API.

If the origin content is gone rather than just changed, tagged content can also be deleted instead of invalidated. Vercel notes deleting the cache can increase latency while new content is generated, or cause downtime if the origin is unresponsive, so it should be used with caution. The feature is available on all plans.
