Agent Plugins 1.0.0 is now available. It is an open, vendor-neutral standard for packaging Agent Skills and MCP servers into portable plugins.
Vercel has published Agent Plugins 1.0.0, an open, vendor-neutral standard for packaging Agent Skills and MCP servers into portable plugins that compatible agent clients can discover and load. The format centres on a root plugin.json manifest plus fixed locations for each portable component, while installation, distribution, policy and user experience stay under each client's own control.
At launch, Agent Plugins is supported across ChatGPT and Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Kiro, and VS Code. Vercel has published the specification and implementation guides, along with a guide to building a plugin on the new standard.
