Vercel CLI 50.0.0 masks new environment variable input and prompts to pull env vars after linking a project.

Vercel CLI 50.0.0 changes how linking and environment variables work at the command line. After linking a project, the CLI now prompts to pull the project's environment variables so a local setup matches what's deployed, and input for new environment variables is masked during interactive entry.

  • Running link against an existing project now shows an interactive selector, if there are fewer than 100 projects.
  • Fixed a bug where vc link --repo incorrectly prefixed project names.
  • Commands that take an ls argument now handle extra or unexpected arguments the same way: they produce a clear error and exit early, instead of the previous per-command behaviour. Scripts relying on the old behaviour may need updating.

The changes are part of Vercel's CLI update.
