How PAIGE grew revenue by 22% with Shopify, Next.js, and Vercel

By Steven Van ·

PAIGE moved from Commercetools and Angular to Shopify, Next.js and Vercel, and reported 76% higher conversion over Black Friday Cyber Monday 2024.

PAIGE, a denim and apparel retailer, replaced an ecommerce stack of Commercetools, Angular and Bloomreach with Shopify, Next.js and Vercel. Vercel's customer story says the team chose a full re-architecture over a redesign. Integration and data-syncing problems in the old headless setup had slowed development across departments.

Each piece of the new stack had a stated job:

  • Shopify: the commerce foundation, picked for omnichannel support across ecommerce, retail, fulfillment, customer service and marketing.
  • Next.js: server-side rendering, which fixed the SEO issues PAIGE had with Angular, and flexibility without vendor lock-in.
  • Vercel: automated deployments, a global CDN, preview deployments, instant rollbacks, and ongoing access to Next.js and React expertise.

The site launched months before Black Friday and was stress-tested beforehand. Over Black Friday Cyber Monday, PAIGE reported a 22% increase in traffic with no downtime, a 76% increase in conversion rates, and a 24% increase in average orders per minute. Overall revenue rose 22%. Michael La Colla, PAIGE's Director of Engineering, described the weekend as "blissfully boring".

PAIGE says the simpler stack now lets it add features faster, including buy-online, fulfill-from-store and a new loyalty program.
