Higher defaults and limits for Vercel Functions running Fluid compute

By Steven Van ·

Fluid compute functions now default to five minutes on every plan, with Pro and Enterprise able to extend to 30 minutes in beta.

Default execution time for Vercel Functions running Fluid compute is now 300 seconds (5 minutes) across every plan, up from 60s on Hobby and 90s on Pro and Enterprise. Maximum duration stays at 300s on Hobby, while Pro and Enterprise can run up to 800s, with a 1800s (30 minute) extended maximum in beta for supported Node.js and Python runtimes.

  • Standard memory and CPU instances move from 1 vCPU / 1.7 GB to 1 vCPU / 2 GB; Performance instances move from 1.7 vCPU / 3 GB to 2 vCPU / 4 GB.
  • The Basic CPU instance has been removed. Hobby projects now use Standard CPU.
  • The larger instances run on Active CPU pricing, which bills for actual compute time and charges memory-only periods at a lower rate, making longer executions cheaper.

Vercel says logs can show whether functions are hitting execution limits, so teams can adjust max duration or upgrade plans from there. See the announcement for the full limits table.
