GPT-5, GPT-5-mini, and GPT-5-nano are now available in Vercel AI Gateway

By Steven Van ·

Vercel is a launch partner for OpenAI's GPT-5 models, adding built-in observability, BYOK support, and automatic failover through the AI SDK v5.

GPT-5, GPT-5-mini, and GPT-5-nano are now available through Vercel's AI Gateway, so developers can call OpenAI's newest reasoning models without a separate OpenAI account. Vercel is a launch partner for GPT-5 and worked with OpenAI to have the models ready on day one.

With the AI SDK v5, switching models is a one-line change: install the ai package and set the model to openai/gpt-5, openai/gpt-5-mini, or openai/gpt-5-nano. The Gateway adds built-in observability, usage and cost tracking, Bring Your Own Key support, and automatic retries and failover aimed at higher than provider-average uptime. Vercel also published a new AI Gateway model leaderboard tracking usage across models.
