GPT 5.1 Codex models now available in Vercel AI Gateway

OpenAI's GPT-5.1 Codex and Codex mini are now callable through Vercel AI Gateway without a separate OpenAI account.
Vercel's AI Gateway now supports OpenAI's GPT-5.1 Codex and GPT-5.1 Codex mini, with no separate OpenAI account required. The models are built for long-running, agentic coding tasks and are able to hold context and reasoning over longer sessions without degrading.
To call them through the AI SDK, set the model to openai/gpt-5.1-codex or openai/gpt-5.1-codex-mini. As with other AI Gateway models, requests get unified usage and cost tracking, retries, provider failover, and built-in observability.
