Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview arrives on Vercel's AI Gateway with medium thinking-level controls for cost and speed trade-offs.
Vercel's AI Gateway now supports Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview from Google. Vercel says the release improves quality in software engineering and agentic workflows, with better handling of real-world finance and spreadsheet tasks, and that its thinking is more efficient, using fewer tokens without a drop in performance.
To use it, set the model to google/gemini-3.1-pro-preview in the AI SDK. The model supports a medium thinking level, letting developers tune the trade-off between cost, performance, and speed.
