Elastic build machines now available in beta

By Steven Van ·

Available on all paid plans, the beta assigns Standard, Enhanced or Turbo build machines automatically and bills per CPU minute.

Vercel is rolling out elastic build machines in beta, letting the platform pick build hardware for each project instead of teams choosing a fixed machine size themselves.

The beta is available on all paid plans and can be turned on in team or project settings. Rather than assigning one machine type to a whole project, Vercel evaluates each project individually: simpler projects can run on cost-efficient Standard build machines, while more complex workloads scale up automatically to Enhanced or Turbo machines. Elastic build machines are billed per CPU minute, rather than the per-build-minute pricing used for Standard, Enhanced and Turbo machines. Details are in the builds documentation.
