Deploy with Vercel Drop without an account

By Steven Van ·

Drop a file, folder or ZIP to get a live URL that lasts one hour, then claim it with a free account to keep the static site online.

Static sites can now be deployed with Vercel Drop without an account. Dragging a file, folder or ZIP archive onto the page returns a live URL, as announced in the Vercel changelog.

How an account-free deploy works

Go to vercel.com/drop and drop a file, folder or .zip onto the page, or choose one to upload. Vercel deploys it right away. The deployment is temporary, and the success page shows a countdown until it expires.

Deployments made without an account expire after one hour. To keep the site live, select Claim your project and create a free account before the countdown ends. If a deployment does expire, you can sign up and drop the files again.

Limits without an account

  • Only static sites can be dropped. A framework project asks you to sign up first.
  • Each file can be up to 100 MB, and the whole drop up to 1 GB. Going over the anonymous limits also prompts a sign-up.
  • Dropping onto an existing project requires an account.

With an account

Signed-in users can deploy static sites and framework projects, which Vercel detects and builds. You choose a team and project name, and Vercel publishes straight to production. Dropped projects have no Git connection, so pushes do not trigger deployments unless a repository is connected afterward.
