Deleted deployments are permanently removed sooner

By Steven Van ·

Successful deployments deleted before they turn 30 days old can now be restored only for a period tied to their age or retention policy.

Deployments deleted before they are 30 days old now stay recoverable for less time before Vercel removes them permanently. According to the changelog, the aim is to reduce the buildup of old deployments on the Recently Deleted page as developers deploy more often.

How long you have to restore

For successfully built deployments, the time to restore after deletion depends on when and how the deployment was deleted:

  • Deleted by retention policy before 30 days old: the same length as the policy. A 7-day policy gives 7 more days.
  • Deleted manually less than 1 day after creation: 1 more day.
  • Deleted manually at least 1 day but less than 30 days after creation: the same as its age at deletion. Delete it 3 days after creation, and there are 3 more days.
  • Deleted manually or by retention policy 30 days or more after creation: 30 more days, unchanged.

After the window

Once the recovery period ends, deployments are permanently deleted and cannot be restored. Unsuccessful deployments may be permanently deleted sooner. Details are in Vercel's deployment retention documentation.
