Claude Sonnet 5.5 now available on AI Gateway

Claude Sonnet 5.5 is callable as anthropic/claude-sonnet-5.5 through the AI SDK and three APIs, with Zero Data Retention supported.
Developers on Vercel can now call Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 5.5 through AI Gateway using the model ID anthropic/claude-sonnet-5.5. It supports Zero Data Retention on AI Gateway.
Vercel describes Sonnet 5.5 as an improvement on Claude Sonnet 5 for well-scoped everyday work, such as building features, fixing bugs, and creating documents, slides and spreadsheets. On coding tasks it carries changes through multiple steps and checks its work before reporting completion. Its documents, slides and spreadsheets need fewer follow-up edits, and its explanations and reports are clearer. It is also better at using desktop apps and reading charts and technical drawings.
The model works with the AI SDK, the OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions API, the Responses API and the Anthropic Messages API. For a coding agent connected to AI Gateway, run npx vercel ai-gateway setup and select anthropic/claude-sonnet-5.5 in the agent's model settings. It can also be tried in the AI Gateway model playground.
