Claim Deployments now available for fast and secure deployment transfers
By Steven Van ·
Platforms that create deployments for users can now send a claim URL, and the user picks a team to take ownership, resources included.
Platforms that build on a user's behalf, such as AI agents and visual building apps, can now hand a deployment over to that user's Vercel account. Vercel's Claim Deployments feature covers the transfer.
The flow has three steps:
- A third party creates a deployment with the Vercel CLI, or with the Vercel API (POST /files and POST /deployments).
- The platform calls a Vercel API endpoint to generate a claim-deployment URL for that deployment.
- The user opens the URL, selects their Vercel team and completes the transfer.
The docs add that when a deployment is claimed, associated resources from Neon, Supabase and Prisma transfer to the new owner's account too. The transfer code the agent gets is valid for 24 hours. For moving a project between two teams owned by the same user, Vercel recommends the Project Transfer flow instead.
The docs also suggest it for team restructuring and for moving personal projects to a company account.
