AI traffic insights now available in Vercel Observability
By Steven Van ·
The new Observability tab breaks down AI crawler and assistant requests, and CLI queries for the same data require Observability Plus.
Vercel Observability now has an AI Traffic view that shows how AI bots access a site. The Vercel dashboard tab charts bot requests over time, split between AI crawlers that index or train on content and AI assistants that fetch pages on behalf of a user.
What the insights show
- Requests by verified AI bot: how many requests each bot makes.
- Most-crawled pages: pages AI crawlers request most often for indexing or model training.
- Assistant retrievals: pages AI assistants fetch in response to user actions or search queries.
- Markdown requests: pages AI bots request in Markdown format.
- Errors: pages where requests from AI bots return errors.
Where to find it
Open Observability, then AI Traffic, in the Vercel dashboard. The same metrics can be queried with vercel metrics in the Vercel CLI, by people or by their agents. The release note's example is vc metrics vercel.ai_traffic.count --group-by botName, which breaks AI traffic down by bot name. The CLI covers AI crawler, assistant and failed-request counts.
Availability
CLI queries require Observability Plus. The announcement does not state plan requirements for the dashboard tab.
