Stripe to acquire OpenRouter for over $7 billion

By Steven Van ·

The deal, reported by Bloomberg, values the AI model router at roughly 5.4x the $1.3 billion it raised three months ago.

Stripe has agreed to buy OpenRouter, the AI model-routing startup, for more than $7 billion, according to a Bloomberg report. It would be one of Stripe's largest acquisitions and would push the company beyond payments into AI infrastructure. Stripe declined to comment on the report.

OpenRouter routes 200 trillion tokens a month for more than 10 million users across 500+ models and 80+ providers, and already runs its own billing through Stripe. The reported price is roughly 5.4x the $1.3 billion valuation OpenRouter raised three months earlier.
