Shaders opens its engine and components under MIT
By Steven Van ·
The rendering engine and framework bindings are included; the editor, presets and platform remain separately licensed.
The WebGPU engine, shader components and framework bindings from Shaders are now available under the MIT license.
What is open
The repository includes more than 200 effects and bindings for React, Vue, Svelte, Solid and JavaScript. Developers can use the package in personal and commercial projects, extend it and contribute components. The defineShader interface for creating custom components is public, with experimental primitives documented separately.
What remains separate
The design editor, presets, sections and other platform features have separate terms. Pro continues to include curated presets, pre-built sections and media rendering. Code export from the editor is free.
See the October 6 announcement for the scope of the release.
