Runway Dev is now available as a Codex plugin

One plugin install gives Codex the Runway Dev connection and integration skills, and the Codex IDE extension still cannot load plugins.
On October 28, 2026, Runway said Runway Dev is now a plugin for Codex. One install gives Codex what it needs to build Runway’s API into an app. You describe what the app should generate, and Codex builds the integration.
Runway’s plugin guide says the install bundles the Runway Dev MCP and seven skills. The MCP connects Codex to a Runway Dev account so it can check models, limits, and prices, set up Model Routers, and manage Characters. The skills cover the official SDKs and how to build with models, routers, Characters, Recipes, and Workflows. Generations still run in the app through the API.
The documented terminal commands add the runwayml/skills marketplace, install runway-api@runway-dev, and sign in with codex mcp login runway-dev. Runway Dev is also in the plugin directory that ChatGPT and Codex share. The Codex IDE extension cannot load plugins. The guide lists no separate plugin price.
