Replit Bring Your Own Cloud private preview
By Steven Van ·
Enterprise customers can run Replit's platform and published apps in their own Azure, Google Cloud or AWS tenant, with two further options in early access.
Replit has opened Replit Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) as a private preview for enterprises that need to build and run apps in their own cloud. It works on Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services, according to the original announcement. Access varies by cloud, capability and customer.
Full BYOC
Full BYOC, the part in private preview, puts the Replit platform and published project hosting in the customer's cloud tenant. The platform includes compute, storage, the file system, integrations and the Agent harness. Replit deploys its isolated infrastructure units, called cells, in the customer's cloud. Network policies govern development and Agent execution, so security teams can control which internal resources the Agent reaches and apply controls to outbound connections. Keeping the Agent harness in the cell also colocates it with compute.
It needs the most upfront setup of the three options.
Two early access options
- BYOC for Published Apps: published projects are hosted in the customer's cloud, while Replit manages the platform. Administrators set the publishing destination for each workspace, and builders still click "Publish". Secure tunnels with two layers of mTLS connect Replit to resources in the tenant and only communicate outwards. Customer-managed encryption keys are available for customers whose agreement includes full physical isolation of the Replit Cell.
- Image Exports: a Docker image, a Terraform file and an SBOM that the customer's infrastructure team uses to deploy Replit-built apps itself. The published app does not call back to the Replit platform, and the customer provides pieces such as managed auth and connectors. It can be combined with BYOC for Published Apps.
Replit's release note describes the current published-app pilot as separate: apps run in the customer's cloud, while development and previews stay on Replit-managed infrastructure.
Availability
Enterprise customers can contact Replit sales to discuss eligibility, supported configurations and onboarding timing. Replit also says different workspaces can run in different cells, for example one in a Replit-managed cell and another in the customer's cloud.
