Replit adds a native Plaid connector for finance apps
By Steven Van ·
Builders can link their own accounts in about five minutes, with a sandbox for prototyping before going live.
Plaid has launched a native connector for Replit, letting builders create custom finance apps using their own real-time, permissioned financial data. Connecting an account takes about five minutes: create a Plaid dashboard account, add Plaid as a connector inside a Replit project, then prompt Replit to build against that data source. A sandbox with synthetic data is available for prototyping before linking a real account.
Two starting points highlighted in the announcement:
- A spending insights app that pulls categorized transaction data to answer questions like spending trends by category or month over month.
- An investments tracker that pulls portfolio holdings, balances, and cost basis to show diversification and sector exposure.
Builders only get access to their own financial data. Plaid and Replit are running a live demo on YouTube on 7 May 2026 at 9:00 AM PT, building both app types from scratch.
