⚡ Performance Improvements

Raycast v2.8 for macOS adds extension skill browsing in AI settings, Gong meeting support and Greek letters.

File Search results arrive up to six times faster in Raycast v2.8 for macOS, with better typo handling and faster indexing that uses less CPU. The October 14 update also cuts startup memory use by about 20% and makes the app launch faster.

Faster extensions and scrolling

Extension installs and updates are about four times faster on average, with improvements of up to 30 times. Root Search and other lists scroll up to twice as fast. File indexing fixes also address changes missed while Raycast was closed and deleted or excluded files appearing after a reboot.

AI settings and chat changes

Installed extension skills can now be browsed in AI settings. AI Chat distinguishes skills from MCP tools in mention labels and loads extension tools more selectively to reduce the data sent at the start of a chat.

Images attached when using local models now stay on the device when Cloud Sync or AI Chat History sync is turned off. Send Window and Send Element to AI gain a primary action setting, and the weekly Claude Fable usage limit is explained more clearly.

Calendar, notes and system updates

  • Calendar adds support for joining Gong meetings.
  • Emoji & Symbols adds Greek letters.
  • In Notes, Cmd+click on a parent todo toggles all nested todos.
  • Raycast now honors HTTP_PROXY, HTTPS_PROXY and NO_PROXY for all traffic.
  • The updater avoids automatic installation while Dictation or AI Agents are active in the background and detects updates installed from another account on the same Mac.
