We Made Contact. ChatGPT Messaged Our Website.

By Steven Van ·

Quickchat showed a ChatGPT request reaching its Inbox from a docs page, and says it is building a way for other sites to receive such messages.

ChatGPT sent a message to Quickchat's own website, and the message arrived in Quickchat Inbox. The team answered it, and ChatGPT used the reply to help its user. Quickchat's post describes this as making contact.

How the exchange worked

When someone asks ChatGPT about a business, it can check that business's website while answering. Usually it only fetches content, and the business sees neither the question nor how its words are used. In this test, Quickchat gave ChatGPT a task about Quickchat's website importer. ChatGPT found a live test in the docs, asked for a check and used the result. Quickchat could see what ChatGPT needed and help shape the answer.

What Quickchat is building

The announcement says Quickchat is testing the idea of giving agents a useful reason to send a message. It lists tasks a website could handle for an agent:

  • Check a budget
  • Find the options that fit
  • Verify a setup
  • Work out what is compatible
  • Run a test and return evidence the agent can use

Quickchat's stated goal is to create these entry points, place them where they matter on a site, and bring the conversations into one Inbox. The post calls this "the Inbox for the agentic internet". It gives no details on pricing, availability or a release date.
