Enhanced Sandbox capabilities with the launch of Sandbox Studio in the Dashboard
Plaid also speeds up Fidelity and Schwab account access and retires two unused account subtypes.
Plaid's Dashboard now includes Sandbox Studio, letting developers make Sandbox API calls directly from the Dashboard instead of through code. It also supports creating custom Sandbox profiles from a text description and saving institutions to those profiles for testing Layer and the Returning User Experience.
The same changelog entry also trims onboarding times for two brokerages and cleans up the account subtype list:
- New customers on Custom and Growth plans get Fidelity Investments access within 4 weeks, down from 8; Pay-as-you-go customers can now request it from the Dashboard's OAuth institutions page instead of filing a support ticket.
- New customers get Charles Schwab access within 5 business days, down from 6 weeks; Pay-as-you-go customers no longer need to request it at all.
- The unused installment (loan) and charge card (credit) account subtypes have been removed, since Plaid's API never returned them.
- From October 11, 2026, the home equity and commercial subtypes split further: home equity will cover HELOCs only, with a new home equity loan subtype for loans, and commercial will cover commercial loans only, with a new commercial line of credit subtype. Customers filtering on the old subtypes need to add the new ones to keep the same coverage.
