Pika launches a $10/month club for 70+ AI media model APIs

By Steven Van ·

Members get one API key across video, image, audio and language models, priced at what Pika calls near-wholesale rates.

Pika just stepped outside its own video models and picked a fight with the economics of the entire AI API business. On August 4 the company introduced the Pika API Club at dev.pika.art, a $10 per month membership that gives developers and creative teams access to more than 70 leading generative media models through a single API key, at prices Pika says are as close to wholesale as it can negotiate. The pitch is blunt: Pika was shocked to find that many API aggregation platforms charge roughly a 3x markup on model access, so it built its own aggregator, negotiated better rates directly, and kept its margin thin on purpose.

A Costco card for generative media APIs

The structure is deliberately borrowed from warehouse retail. You pay a flat $10 monthly membership, and in exchange you get usage pricing that Pika negotiates on behalf of the whole membership pool, passed through with as little markup as possible. New members get a $10 usage credit, which effectively makes the first month free. There is no lock-in, and you can cancel anytime.

That flips the usual aggregator model on its head. Most API resellers make their money by quietly padding per-generation prices, which is invisible until you compare invoices. Pika instead makes its money on the membership fee and treats cheap model access as the product itself. Pika CEO Demi Guo put it plainly in the launch announcement: "Our developer and founder friends were shocked to hear that they've been paying a 3x markup on generative AI models."

One key, 70-plus models across video, image, audio, and language

The catalog is broader than you might expect from a company known for its own video generator. At launch the API Club covers models from Google, OpenAI, ByteDance, Kling, MiniMax, ElevenLabs, and others, alongside Pika's own models, and the roster keeps growing. Browsing dev.pika.art today you will find video models like Seedance, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, Grok Imagine, and Pika 2.5, image models including GPT Image 2, Seedream 5.0 Pro, Nano Banana Pro, and Recraft 4.1, audio options such as MiniMax Music 3.0, Lyria 2, and ElevenLabs voices, plus mainstream LLMs like Claude and Gemini. Everything runs through one API and one bill, which matters if you are a small team currently juggling six provider accounts.

The pricing math Pika wants you to run

Pika shipped receipts with the announcement rather than vague promises. Its launch comparison says Seedance 2.0 runs up to 80 percent cheaper on the API Club than on Runway Dev, and up to 2x cheaper than Fal.ai, while Kling 3.0 and GPT Image 2.0 come in around 20 percent below Fal's listed pricing. Concretely, the site lists Kling 3.0 at $0.09 per second of video, MiniMax H3 at $0.13 per second, and Seedance 2.0 at roughly $0.09 per second. By Pika's math, generating just three 15-second Seedance videos at these rates versus Runway pricing already covers the $10 membership. Pika is careful to say it cannot guarantee the lowest price on every model, but the direction is clear: the markup is the enemy.

Seedance 2.5 became the first big proof point three days later

The strategy got its first real test almost immediately. On August 7, ByteDance's new flagship Seedance 2.5 landed on the API Club at prices up to 88 percent cheaper than other API aggregators, and Pika stressed that this was not a launch promotion but its standing price. Seedance 2.5 is exactly the kind of model where access cost matters: it generates up to 30 seconds of video natively in one pass, accepts up to 50 multimodal references in a single request, and supports regional editing. Heavy models like that get expensive fast, so an aggregator that skips the markup changes what indie developers and studios can realistically build.

Why creators should care even if they never touch an API

If you build tools, automations, or agent workflows, the case is obvious: cheaper per-generation pricing and one integration instead of many. But the API Club matters to non-coders too. Vibecoding platforms and AI agents can plug into it directly, since Pika designed it to be agent-native, and cheaper wholesale model access tends to flow downstream into the apps creators actually use. When the floor price of generative video, image, and audio drops, everything built on top gets cheaper or better. Pika just made itself the store where a lot of that shopping happens, and the Seedance 2.5 pricing suggests it intends to compete hard on the sticker.
