Picsart adds ByteDance's video upscaler, now up to 8K

The AI Playground tool sharpens, colour-corrects, and upscales footage, a day after Picsart added ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 generator.
Picsart just added ByteDance's Video Enhance model to its AI Playground, and the pitch is simple: that shaky, grainy clip sitting in your camera roll might not be a lost cause. The model sharpens detail, corrects color, and upscales footage all the way to 8K, and it runs right inside Picsart alongside the 168 generation models already living in the Playground. For creators sitting on years of old footage, compressed exports, or soft AI-generated clips, it turns restoration into a one-click step instead of a separate app.
Old clips, phone footage, and soft AI video get an 8K ceiling
Video Enhance does three jobs at once. It recovers detail that compression and low-resolution sensors smeared away, it corrects color so faded or badly lit footage looks balanced again, and it upscales the result as high as 8K. That last number is the headline: most consumer enhancement tools stop at 4K, and ByteDance's own Video Enhancement Pro model caps at 4K with up to 120 fps frame interpolation on API platforms like Runware. Picsart's deployment is billed at the top end of what ByteDance's restoration stack can do.
The obvious use case is rescuing archives: early YouTube uploads, footage from an old phone, family video you want to repurpose for a montage or a documentary-style edit. The less obvious one is AI video itself. Most generation models output 720p or 1080p, so an enhancement pass is how a generated clip becomes something you can actually deliver at broadcast or large-screen quality.
The restoration stack comes from ByteDance's enterprise arm
The technology behind the model comes out of BytePlus, ByteDance's enterprise AI division, which has been selling video enhancement for exactly these scenarios: user-generated short video, AI-generated content, short dramas, and classic film restoration. The stack covers denoising, deblocking, deblurring, sharpening, color and contrast enhancement, and intelligent face restoration, which matters because faces are where upscalers usually fall apart. BytePlus specifically advertises 8K-quality enhancement with face restoration for AIGC and film restoration work, and that is the version of the tech Picsart appears to have wired in.
Two ByteDance drops in two days on Picsart
This is Picsart's second ByteDance integration in as many days. On August 7 the platform added Seedance 2.5, ByteDance's flagship video generation model, with 30-second single-shot clips, up to 50 multimodal references, and lip-synced dialogue in 20 languages. Video Enhance landed the next day, and the pairing is the point: generate a clip with Seedance 2.5, then push it through Video Enhance for an 8K master, all without leaving the Playground tab. FLUX 3 from Black Forest Labs arrived a day before that, so Picsart is clearly racing to keep its Playground stocked with every frontier model the week it ships.
How to try it
Video Enhance is live now in the Picsart AI Playground on web. Pick the model, upload your clip, and choose your output. Picsart runs on a freemium model, so you can test it on real footage before deciding whether Gold is worth it for your workflow. If you have a hard drive full of clips you wrote off years ago, this is the cheapest way yet to find out how much of them is still usable.
