Perplexity launched Projects, positioned as an evolution of Spaces and built specifically as hubs for ongoing work inside Perplexity Computer, its agentic workspace product. The core idea is continuity: a single place to manage, create, and collaborate on tasks, backed by a shared file system and persistent memory.
What Spaces was missing
Spaces organized conversations and files into a shared context, but agentic work in Computer tends to span many sessions over days or weeks, researching a topic, drafting a document, revising based on feedback, handing pieces off to collaborators. Without persistent memory tied to that specific body of work, each session risked losing context that had to be re-established. Projects folds a shared file system and persistent memory directly into the hub, so returning to a project days later picks up where things left off rather than starting cold.

Computer is Perplexity's agentic product, running longer, more autonomous tasks than a single chat exchange.
