Perplexity has launched a Router API, giving unified access to the open-weight models it hosts through a single endpoint using an existing Perplexity API key.
- Compatible with the OpenAI Chat Completions and Anthropic Messages formats, so switching over is just a base-URL change.
- Requests are automatically routed across model deployments with health-based failover.
- Pricing is per-token at each model's published rate, with no per-request fees.
