Perplexity's Agent API fast preset now runs on Fast Search, cutting web_search cost to $1.00 per 1,000 calls and shaving 800ms off responses.
The Agent API's fast preset now runs on Fast Search (search_type: "fast") instead of standard web search. Under this preset, Perplexity's web_search tool cost drops from $2.50 to $1.00 per 1,000 invocations, and search responses are about 800ms faster. Developers can still set search_type: "web" on individual web_search calls for rare, difficult, or ambiguous questions, independent of which preset the request uses.
