The new OpusClip MCP connects it to Claude, ChatGPT, and any other MCP-capable client, which means your AI agent can take a long video and come back with social-ready clips without you opening the OpusClip app at all. Clipping moves into the conversation
The workflow shift is the story. Instead of upload, wait, review inside a web app, clipping becomes a sentence in whatever agent runs your day: point it at the podcast episode, ask for the five best moments captioned for TikTok, and keep talking while it works. Because MCP is a two-way protocol, the agent can also reason over the results, pick the clip that matches this week's theme, ask for a different aspect ratio, or chain the output into the next step of a pipeline.
The agent stack for video is assembling fast
OpusClip joins a very specific July pattern: video tools racing to become agent-accessible. HeyGen shipped clipping and batch APIs, OpenArt and Magnific run MCP servers, and skills marketplaces from Replit to Manus keep adding capabilities. What distinguishes clipping in that lineup is that it's the highest-leverage repurposing step a creator has, one long video becomes a week of short-form, and it was previously locked behind an interactive review flow.
