OpusClip adds Auto SFX to place sound effects automatically

By Steven Van ·

The tool finds moments that need sound and places effects, or generates three options from a text prompt, on Pro and Business plans.

OpusClip tackled the part of editing nobody enjoys: sound. Auto SFX finds the moments in your video that need sound and places the effects for you, so you're not digging through libraries. The pitch is honest, the hardest part of editing is finding the right sounds, and it's the part most creators skip.

Two ways to add sound

Auto SFX works from both ends. Upload your video, hit auto generate, and OpusClip identifies the moments that call for a sound effect and places them, no searching, no timing them by hand. Need something specific? Hit generate by prompt, type what you hear in your head ("typing on a keyboard," "background chatter in a noisy bar"), and it returns three variations to pick from. That covers both the "just make it sound better" case and the precise, I-know-exactly-what-I-want case.

Why sound is the sleeper skill

As OpusClip puts it, sound is what gives a video texture, get it right and your videos come alive. It's also the most-neglected layer, because good SFX work is tedious: finding the right effect, licensing it, placing it on the exact frame. That tedium is why so much short-form content is visually sharp but sonically flat. Automating the find-and-place step removes the friction that keeps creators from doing sound at all, which is a bigger quality lever than most people realize.

Fits OpusClip's polish push

Auto SFX lands alongside AI Producer and Auto Headline, a run of features aimed at turning raw footage into finished, professional video with less manual work. Sound design was the obvious gap, and filling it means an OpusClip export can now sound produced, not just look produced.

Try it

Auto SFX is available now on all OpusClip Pro and Business plans. The quick test: run auto generate on a clip and listen to what it places, then use generate-by-prompt for one specific moment and compare the three variations.
