OpenArt Director can now remix an existing video via chat

Video Remix lets creators upload a reference clip and direct changes to subject, style or story from it.
OpenArt added the most requested starting point to Director, its chat-driven video tool: an existing video. Video Remix is live, and the workflow is exactly three beats long, upload any video you love as inspiration, remix it with chat, own the final version.
Reference beats description
Director launched around what OpenArt calls Vibe Directing: describe the video you want, then chat it into shape. Video Remix flips the input. Instead of describing a look from scratch, you hand Director a video that already has it, the pacing, the framing, the energy, and direct changes from there: swap the subject, restyle the scene, redirect the story. Showing is faster than telling, and for visual style it's dramatically more precise; every creator has a folder of "something like this" references, and now that folder is a starting point instead of a mood board.
"Own the final version"
The announcement's third beat is doing quiet work. Remix culture on short-form platforms runs on borrowed footage; OpenArt's framing is that the remix produces a new, generated video that's yours, inspired by the reference rather than cut from it. That distinction matters practically for creators who need rights-clean output for client work and monetized channels, though the usual judgment still applies: a remix that hews too closely to someone's distinctive work is a taste and ethics call, not just a tooling one.
Director keeps compounding
Video Remix joins a fast-moving Director: Vibe Directing at launch in June, Gemini Omni Flash conversational editing in July, and this week's Brand Kit, which applies your logo, colors, style, and rules to everything you generate. Put together, the pipeline is now: bring a reference, remix it in chat, and have the output land on-brand automatically. That's a production loop, not a demo.
