Which Behavioral Health EHRs Integrate With Wearables?

By Steven Van ·

Oasys Health says it connects Apple Watch, Oura Ring, Strava and Flo data to the client record, and explains who needs that.

Most behavioral health EHRs do not integrate with wearables, according to a post on the Oasys blog. Oasys Health says it is the exception, connecting to Apple Watch, Oura Ring, Strava and Flo.

What counts as integration

The post sets out three requirements:

  • A direct data connection to consumer devices, not a manual upload by the client.
  • Data that lands inside the clinical record, not in a separate dashboard the clinician opens independently.
  • Data current enough to use in session, not a monthly export.

Devices and data

Between them, the four integrations cover sleep tracking, heart rate and activity, exercise and movement patterns, and cycle and health tracking. A clinician reviewing a chart sees this data in the same place as the session note, without a separate login.

Use in session

One practice described pulling up a client's actual sleep data during a session when the client reports insomnia, so both can look at the pattern instead of relying on memory of a bad week. Another practice built its model around wearable data flowing into the client record automatically. The post says the data is supplementary to self-report and not a diagnostic tool on its own.

Who it is for

Oasys says the capability matters most for integrated, somatic or holistic practices, where physiological data is part of the clinical picture. A talk-therapy practice with no clinical use for sleep or activity data, it says, should not weigh it heavily in an EHR decision.

Questions the post suggests asking vendors

  • Does the platform connect directly to consumer wearables, or require a manual export?
  • Which devices are supported, and do they match what clients use?
  • Does the data land in the clinical record or a separate dashboard?
  • Is it current enough to review live in a session?
