TanStack Start 1.0 deploys on Netlify
By Steven Van ·
New Agent Runners projects use TanStack Start 1.0 by default, and the Vite plugin emulates Netlify services locally.
SSR, server routes, server functions and middleware in TanStack Start 1.0 run on Netlify Functions. The announcement covers setup for new and existing apps, plus local development with the platform’s services.
Deploy a new or existing app
Developers can deploy the official template or generate an app with npx create-tsrouter-app@latest --template file-router --add-ons tanchat, netlify.
For an existing app, install @netlify/vite-plugin-tanstack-start as a development dependency, then add netlify() after tanstackStart() in vite.config.ts. In netlify.toml, set the build command to vite build and the publish directory to dist/client.
Use platform services locally
The plugin emulates Netlify inside the dev server without requiring the Netlify CLI. It supports serverless and edge functions, Blobs, Netlify Database, Cache API, Image CDN, redirects, rewrites, headers, environment variables and AI Gateway.
Start with Agent Runners
New Agent Runners projects default to TanStack Start 1.0, so apps built by an agent deploy on Netlify from the first run.
