Netlify Functions can call Gemini 4 Argon through the Google GenAI SDK without developers managing API keys or authentication. Netlify’s AI Gateway handles those automatically, with no configuration required.
Use the Google GenAI SDK
The example in the announcement creates a GoogleGenAI client with an empty configuration object, then calls models.generateContent with the model set to 'gemini-4-argon' and a text prompt. The Function returns the response as JSON.
Available across Function types
Gemini 4 Argon is available for all Function types and Agent Runners, with automatic access to Netlify’s caching, rate limiting, and authentication infrastructure.
