Motionfly launches a desktop recorder built for software demos
By Steven Van ·
The app auto-zooms on the action and adds animated 3D device mockups and webcam-to-screen transitions with no editing.
Motionfly launched its desktop app, and it's aimed squarely at a job most screen recorders do badly: the software demo. Instead of handing you raw footage to edit, Motionfly automatically produces a motion-graphics-style demo, auto-zooming on the action, dropping the recording into animated 3D device mockups, and transitioning between a fullscreen webcam and the screen.
The polish is automatic
The four headline features are all about removing the edit. Auto zoom pushes in on the cursor and the UI element that matters, the single most time-consuming manual step in demo editing. Animated 3D device mockups frame your recording in a phone or browser that moves, the thing that separates a launch video from a Loom. Webcam-to-screen transitions let you open on your face and cut to the product smoothly. Together they target the exact gap between "I recorded my screen" and "this looks like a product launch."
Why demos deserve a dedicated tool
Screen Studio proved there's real demand for recorders that make demos look designed, and Motionfly is planting a flag in the same ground with a motion-graphics emphasis. For developers shipping features, founders making launch videos, and marketers producing SaaS explainers, the demo is the highest-leverage video they make and the one they're least equipped to edit. A recorder that bakes in the production values means shipping the demo instead of postponing it.
Part of the produced-by-default wave
Motionfly fits a clear pattern in creator tooling: capture tools that hand back finished output, not raw material. StreamYard auto-fades overlays, HeyGen's HyperFrames renders from code, and now Motionfly turns a screen capture into a motion piece. The differentiator across the category is how little editing the default output needs, and Motionfly is betting the answer for demos is none.
Try it
Motionfly desktop is available now at motionfly.co. The honest first test is your next feature demo, record it once with no editing plan and see how close the auto-produced result is to shippable.
