Midjourney has pushed a quality update to V8.1, now live on both Discord and midjourney.com, that sharpens image output. The improvement is most visible on SREFs and Moodboards but should show up across all images, especially in HD.
During a server transition, Midjourney is temporarily making SD the default render mode to save compute. HD remains available by switching it on in the settings panel or adding --hd to a prompt. Midjourney also pointed users back to midjourney.com/rank-v8-1 to keep submitting ranking data, which it says is feeding into V8.2.
