Alpha Changelog - 9/2/26

Midjourney's latest alpha build for Midjourney centres on a new editor built into the lightbox, powered by the v8.2 edit model. Opening any image in the lightbox now lets you edit with plain-text instructions, attach up to four reference images, and see all of a session's edits in one place. The company says it has fixed a number of bugs and glitches since the editor first launched the week before.
- A new "Change Style" feature is being tested in the lightbox, described as an early version of a broader effort to make exploring style variations easier.
- Drag and drop is still being refined, with Midjourney saying the current version feels better but not yet "jazzy" enough.
- The prompt bar and pills have had a round of bug fixes, though the company says it's still working out what should carry over between prompts and sessions, and how users can set defaults.
- General performance and fixes: Niji 7 now works correctly with inpainting, the Pinterest extension button no longer wrongly appears in the sidebar, and error messaging has been improved.
Midjourney says upcoming work includes default parameter settings, previewing an sref alongside a prompt, giving images more screen space, and making the settings panel easier to close. The full changelog asks users to keep sending feedback through the alpha's Discord channel.
