The planned all-stock deal would bring Fei-Fei Li and World Labs’ spatial AI research team to AMD. Marble remains World Labs’ 3D world creation product.
AMD has announced an agreement to acquire World Labs, the spatial AI company behind Marble. The all-stock deal is valued at approximately $8.2 billion. It has not closed; the companies expect to finish the transaction by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions.
What changes for World Labs
World Labs says its research team will join AMD to connect its work on spatial and physical AI more closely with computing hardware. Co-founder and CEO Dr. Fei-Fei Li is expected to become an AMD executive vice president and chief scientist, reporting to CEO Dr. Lisa Su. Justin Johnson and Ben Mildenhall will continue leading the World Labs team with her.
The companies began working together on training and inference optimization using AMD GPUs before agreeing to combine their efforts. AMD says the acquisition would help it design hardware, software, and systems around new AI workloads, including robotics, simulation, and physical AI.
Where Marble fits
World Labs develops models that generate, reconstruct, and simulate interactive 3D environments. Its product Marble lets creators generate persistent worlds from text, images, video, or rough 3D layouts, then explore and edit them. The announcement describes the research team’s plans but does not announce a change to Marble’s availability or pricing.
