Manus adds always-on Cloud Computers for bots and scripts
By Steven Van ·
Persistent Ubuntu machines keep files and tools in place between tasks, with Basic, Standard, and Advanced plans under Settings.
Manus has added Cloud Computer, a persistent machine that runs bots, scripts, and other software around the clock instead of only for the length of a chat session. Unlike a regular Manus sandbox, which resets after each task, files and installed tools on a Cloud Computer stay in place, so Manus can pick up a project weeks or months later.
The announcement lists several use cases this unlocks:
- Hosting 24/7 bots for Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, or Telegram
- Running a persistent knowledge base or live database, such as MySQL, that updates over time
- Self-hosting open-source tools like WordPress, Metabase, Odoo, Home Assistant, or Plausible
- Running scheduled scrapers or reports on a set timer
- Setting up command-line developer tools without needing to use a terminal directly
Manus will assign a Cloud Computer automatically when a task needs continuous uptime, or a user can create one under Settings > My Computer, choosing between Basic, Standard, and Advanced plans depending on whether the work is a simple script, an active website or API, or a team database. The machine runs Ubuntu, is accessible via SSH or a web terminal, and has no graphical desktop. If a subscription lapses, the machine's working files are deleted, though delivered outputs remain in chat history.
