Lovable apps can search the live web with Perplexity

A managed connection needs no Perplexity key and bills search in Lovable credits.
A Lovable app can now pull source-backed information from the live web. Lovable posted the Perplexity connector on October 30, 2026, with a market research dashboard built on it.
Managed search, or your own key
The docs describe two connections. Managed by Lovable covers the Perplexity Search API only: web search results with titles, links, snippets, and dates, filtered by domain or recency. It needs no Perplexity account or API key. There is one managed connection per workspace. Cited answers, grounded chat, academic and SEC search, and deep research are not built on that connection. Those need Use your own credentials, with a Perplexity API key that starts with pplx-. Perplexity bills that usage. Lovable stores the key as a secret in each linked project, and the app calls Perplexity from its server.
On a managed connection, search costs 20 Lovable credits per 1,000 searches, or 10 on Business plans. The docs say that matches Perplexity's Search API list price of $5 per 1,000 requests. Lovable meters each successful search, in the preview and in the published app, and charges the workspace that owns the project. A workspace can make up to 1,000 managed search requests per 24 hours. Past that, requests fail until the window passes. If the workspace runs out of credits, search fails until it is topped up.
Who can add it
App and chat connectors are available by default. On Business and Enterprise, who can create connections and clients starts at Admins. Some Enterprise workspaces start at No one, which disables the connector, until an admin or owner changes it under Connectors, Admin settings, App and chat connectors. Managed connections are shared with the whole workspace unless you restrict them. A connection that uses your own key is private to you until you share it.
