Initiatives are Linear's way to manage product strategy and high-level planning across projects.
Linear initiatives can now be led by a specific team rather than tracked only at the company level, making clear who is responsible for driving that piece of strategy. Initiatives led by a private team are visible only to that team's members, for confidential planning, regulated projects, audits, or other restricted work. Details are in the changelog entry.
Linear's MCP also gains enterprise-managed authorization. When an employee connects from a supported Anthropic agent, Linear verifies their identity through the workspace's Okta-managed identity and applies their existing Linear permissions, so admins can manage access centrally without employees signing in to Linear individually. This requires an Enterprise workspace with Okta SAML configured.
