More ways to run and share Loops
By Steven Van ·
Loops can now start from Slack or GitHub events, be shared as workspace templates, and run at Auto, Low, Medium or High reasoning.
Loops in Linear can now be started by events in Slack and GitHub, saved as workspace templates, and set to different reasoning levels, according to the October 22 changelog.
Slack and GitHub triggers
Events in Slack and GitHub can start a loop automatically, so work moves forward without someone having to notice an update and act on it. Linear's examples: a loop that answers product questions in a Slack channel, or one that drafts a QA plan when a GitHub pull request gets a "ready for testing" label.
Custom loop templates
A loop can be saved as a template for others in the workspace. To create one, open the loop's menu and select Save as template. It then appears next to Linear's built-in templates when someone creates a new loop. Linear suggests sharing something like a team's bug-triage loop so other teams can adapt it.
Reasoning levels
Each loop now has a reasoning setting, to balance speed, cost and task complexity. Auto uses the workspace's default setting. Low, Medium or High give more control, so routine work can stay fast and cheap while harder tasks get deeper reasoning.
Other changes in the same release
- Linear Agent can read and update Figma designs through the Figma MCP server. Sharing a frame turns a design into implementation requirements, and the agent can also create a design proposal from an issue.
- Linear issues can be kept in sync with PRs in Cursor Origin repos. A phrase like "Fixes PROD-120" in the PR title or description lets status automations update the issue as work progresses.
- A "Create new loop" action was added to the Cmd/Ctrl+K command menu.
- Label groups can be set as multi-select instead of single-select.
- The MCP server can assign users by part of their name, returning the possible matches when a name fits more than one user, and can look up customers by domain and external ID.
- Triage responsibility schedules now support BetterStack.
- Diffs gained a "Resolve conflicts" button that opens a draft in agent chat, plus Pending and Drafts filters for unsent comments.
The changelog also lists a longer set of fixes, including SCIM role group setup, Google Calendar out-of-office dates, and OAuth refresh token errors.
