Krea ships its first in-house foundation image model

By Steven Van ·

Krea 2 is open source and rolling out now to Max and Business plan users, with more access codes coming through the week.

Krea has released Krea 2, its first foundation image model built entirely in-house rather than on top of an existing model. The company says it was designed for aesthetic diversity and stylistic control: vague prompts are meant to return a range of different ideas rather than variations on one concept, and outputs generate in 15 seconds or less.

  • A redesigned style transfer system extracts the stylistic components of a reference image and can combine up to four style references at once.
  • Moodboards let users share a collection of images so the model can pick up on broader themes and motifs that a single reference can't convey.
  • The model is also open source, with the code and technical writeup available on GitHub and Hugging Face.

Krea 2 is rolling out to Max and Business plan users starting today, with more access codes going out through the week. Full details are in the announcement.
