HyperFrames v0.8.206
By Steven Van ·
HyperFrames v0.8.206 trims Studio scrub overhead, removes a 45-second render setup wait, and fixes frame and PNG colour mismatches between preview and render.
Scrubbing a long film in Studio now costs less, and a composition with no timeline script no longer waits 45 seconds before it renders. HyperFrames v0.8.206 also makes preview and render agree on the video frame and on a PNG's colours, and HEIC photos now work in compositions. The linked commit covers the Studio scrubbing change.
Cheaper scrubbing in Studio
While a scrub is running, the preview posts state messages, and each one could trigger a re-read of the preview for missing compositions. That re-read queries the whole document. It now runs at most every 500 ms. The commit adds a test showing that repeated state messages inside that window trigger a single re-read, and that another one runs once 500 ms have passed.
Other changes in the release
- Check: the CLI's check command catches audio that the render would lose or play as silence.
- PNG colours: a PNG's colour tags no longer change its pixels in preview, check, snapshot or render.
- Video frames: a paused preview and the render show the same, correct frame. Snapshots keep the colours that render gives the same footage.
- Setup wait: a composition with no timeline-registering script no longer waits 45 s at setup.
- HEIC: HEIC images are converted to JPEG at compile time.
- CLI: a killed CLI no longer leaves its child processes running. The Windows console is hidden for the port lookup and clipboard. Play and present ports are now validated.
- Compositions: a composition behind a wrapper takes its host's start.
- Engine: a failing root composition script now has the element it looked up named in the error.
