HyperFrames v0.8.156

By Steven Van ·

Screen recordings stop freezing on FFmpeg 8, render workers start together, and inspector harnesses must define their own agent tools.

Screen recordings with long, overlapping frames no longer freeze partway through renders on FFmpeg 8 in HyperFrames v0.8.156. The October 14 release also reduces rendering and audio work, and introduces a breaking change for inspector integrations.

Rendering and audio fixes

  • Variable-frame-rate video is now sampled by timestamp. FFmpeg 8 honours frame durations, which previously caused affected screen recordings to hold one frame and drop the rest. Cached frames from older versions are re-extracted.
  • Segmented render workers now start together, allowing waits for slow-loading media to overlap. Previously, each worker waited for the preceding worker to finish loading media.
  • Renders under WSL use the GPU through full Chrome when the headless shell cannot, instead of falling back to software rendering.
  • Audio mixes no longer pad every input to the full composition length. Short clips leave the mix when they finish, so audio work no longer grows with clip count multiplied by composition length.

Harnesses now define inspector tools

@hyperframes/inspector no longer ships agent tools. The release removes inspect_components, query_timeline, the stdio MCP server, and the componentsTool, timelineTool, toolContent and InspectionTool exports from @hyperframes/inspector/live.

The HTTP contract for POST /inspect, /timeline and /element-map is unchanged. InspectRequest and TimelineRequest are now exported so harnesses can build their own schemas.
