Higgsfield's After Effects plugin runs on Claude Fable 5

By Steven Van ·

The update adds plugin building, reference-to-vector-layer decomposition, an AI assistant and project localization inside After Effects.

Higgsfield gave its After Effects integration a serious brain transplant. The Higgsfield MCP/plugin for After Effects is upgraded and now powered by Claude Fable 5, turning it from a helper into something that can build tools, rebuild artwork into animatable layers, and localize projects, inside the app motion designers already live in.

Four capabilities that matter to motion designers

The upgrade lists four things. You can build your own AE plugins, describe the tool you wish existed and get it, no ExtendScript expertise required. You can drop in a reference image and have it decomposed into editable vector layers you can animate, which is the tedious rotoscope-and-rebuild step that eats hours before animation even begins. There's an AI assistant that either answers your After Effects question or just does the task for you. And you can localize a project seamlessly, swapping text across languages without manually rebuilding every comp.

The reference-to-layers trick is the standout

Of the four, decomposing a flat reference into editable vector layers is the one that changes a workflow. Animation starts from layered artwork, and getting there from a flat image or a client's reference is where motion projects stall. Automating that, and Moda shipped a similar image-layerize feature the same day, suggests de-flattening is emerging as a category of its own. Doing it inside After Effects, where the animation then happens, keeps the whole job in one place.

Fable 5 as the engine

Naming Claude Fable 5 as the model behind the upgrade is notable, it's the reasoning that lets the plugin build other plugins and act as a do-it-for-you assistant rather than a lookup tool. It's part of Higgsfield's broader agentic push this month (its free Supercomputer LLM mode, the Academy), extending that intelligence into a professional creative app rather than just its own platform.

Try it

The upgraded After Effects plugin is available now through Higgsfield. If you do motion work, the reference-to-vector-layers feature is the one to test first on a piece of artwork you'd normally rebuild by hand.
