Harvey's new playbook builder turns a firm's existing contract standards into a working playbook, generating rules from a past playbook, a set of marked-up agreements, a Harvey-curated template, or a guided conversation built from scratch. Harvey analyzes the source material, asks clarifying questions, and drafts rules while a side-by-side panel shows the playbook taking shape in real time.
For example, an in-house team building an MSA playbook can hand over its standard template and executed agreements, and Harvey will identify the preferred liability cap, preserve common fallback positions, and surface outlier terms for confirmation rather than requiring lawyers to author every rule manually. The approach draws on the methodology Harvey's legal engineers and in-house product lawyers developed while building more than 300 customer playbooks.
- Rules can capture what to do between acceptable and unacceptable language: preferred positions, fallback language, guidance, actions, conditions, and escalation paths. A data processing rule, for instance, can direct Harvey to flag nonstandard breach notification terms for privacy counsel instead of automatically redlining them.
- Each rule includes a summary, explanation, and citations to its source documents, and Harvey surfaces coverage gaps and suggests fallback positions during creation.
