Introducing Horizon Scanning
By Steven Van ·
Horizon Scanning helps legal teams monitor, assess, and take action on the changes that matter most.
Harvey is rolling out Horizon Scanning, a tool for monitoring regulatory and legislative changes and acting on them without leaving the platform. Harvey cites survey data showing 63% of legal departments saw their monitoring and compliance workloads increase in 2026, while existing monitoring tools tend to send alerts through fragmented feeds that arrive unprioritized and disconnected from where the next step actually happens.
- Teams describe what they want to track in plain language, such as a topic, region, or named regulator, and Harvey builds a scan drawing on more than 12,000 sources across 100+ jurisdictions plus any public sources the user specifies. An in-house team could scope a scan to data protection developments only in the jurisdictions where the company holds data, or run a separate scan per subsidiary.
- Results feed a single dashboard, with the most consequential developments surfaced first and a relevance assessment attached to each update so teams can gauge urgency before reading further. Teams can also get email digests of daily changes.
- Scans connect to the rest of Harvey: a user can ask a question about a development and get an answer grounded in the source, or turn a scan directly into a memo revision, a recommended policy update, or a timeline of upcoming obligations. Scans can be shared across a team so different practice groups work from the same view.
Horizon Scanning was built with a cohort of design partners across law firms and in-house teams and is currently available in Early Access for Harvey customers, with general availability to follow.
