Grok's Voice Mode can now check your email and calendar

Connectors already set up in Grok's text chat now work hands-free, from Gmail and Outlook to Salesforce and custom MCP servers.
Grok just closed the gap between talking to an assistant and having it actually do things. xAI announced that connectors now work in Grok's Voice Mode: you can ask Grok about your emails, check your daily meetings, or use any connector you have already set up, entirely by talking. Until now, connectors were a typed-chat feature; this update carries them into the hands-free context where they arguably matter most.
Your inbox and calendar, out loud
The examples xAI leads with are the daily-driver ones. Ask what came into your inbox this morning and Grok can search and read your Gmail or Outlook mail. Ask what your day looks like and it pulls your Google or Outlook calendar, surfacing the agenda and free slots. Because Voice Mode taps whatever connectors your account already has enabled, this extends past email and calendar to anything you have wired up, with no new setup step for voice specifically.
The connector catalog behind the microphone
xAI maintains a set of built-in connectors it manages directly, including Gmail and Google Calendar, Google Drive, OneDrive, Outlook Mail and Calendar, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Salesforce, plus a wider catalog of pre-configured OAuth integrations for popular services. Power users can go further and hook in a custom MCP server to connect tools that are not in the catalog. Individual users enable everything self-serve at grok.com/connectors through standard OAuth sign-ins, while business and enterprise accounts require an admin to provision connectors before members can use them.
Why voice plus connectors is the interesting combination
A voice assistant without your data is a novelty; one that can see your real inbox and schedule is a tool. For creators, the appeal is the in-between moments: triaging email while editing renders, checking the day's calls while setting up a shoot, asking for a file from Drive without breaking focus. On the data question, xAI's docs state that Grok accesses connector data in real time when you ask a question, does not retain it afterward, and does not use it for model training. Connectors do grant real account access, though, so it is worth granting only the scopes you actually need.
Voice Mode has been one of Grok's fastest-moving surfaces this year, and this is the clearest sign yet of where xAI is taking it: not a chatbot you talk at, but an assistant that answers from your actual working life. If you already use connectors in Grok's text chat, everything you set up now works the moment you start talking.
