Grok Bot’s X connector no longer needs a developer account

By Steven Van ·

Grok Bot users can now connect X without an X developer account or API credits, then ask their Bot to manage bookmarks, review DMs or draft articles.

Grok Bot dropped the need for an X developer account and X API credits to use its X connector, a change the team made in the week before October 26, 2026. Santiago, who works on the connector, said users can now connect their X account and ask their Bot to work with it at no extra charge.

Before the change, people had to set up an X developer account before the connector would run. Now you sign in with X from Grok Bot and your Bot can manage your bookmarks, go through your DMs, or draft an article for you.

For creators, that makes it easier to turn saved posts into research lists, catch up on messages, or start drafts from what you have bookmarked, without paying for API access. The announcement does not say whether rate limits changed.
