Graphify is now a ChatGPT plugin

By Steven Van ·

Graphify's plugin links ChatGPT, Codex and Dots to repositories indexed in Graphify Cloud, with no API key and no local graph build.

The Graphify plugin for ChatGPT is out, and the same package works in Codex and in Dots. It connects them to repositories already indexed in Graphify Cloud through the hosted server at https://api.graphify.com/mcp. The announcement says there is no API key to paste, and none of the three builds the graph on the user's computer.

What it can do

Once signed in, ChatGPT, Codex or a Dot can explore the indexed repositories the account is allowed to open. It can trace call paths and dependencies, assess the static impact of a change, find tests linked to that code, and keep workspace-specific engineering knowledge for later questions. The listing is Graphify, by Graphify Labs, under Developer Tools. The server is named graphify and is the same one the VS Code and JetBrains installs use.

Installing it

A repository needs the status Indexed in Graphify Cloud. The plugin works in ChatGPT on the web or desktop app, in the Codex desktop app, and in Dots.

  • Open Graphify in the ChatGPT plugin directory, or go to Settings, then Plugins, and choose Graphify by Graphify Labs.
  • Select Install plugin if shown, then Connect. A browser window opens to sign in to Graphify and pick the workspace that holds the repository.
  • In Codex, switch to it in the desktop app, open Plugins and install Graphify, then connect and sign in the same way.

Installing does not sign the user in; the connection is ready only after the Graphify sign-in finishes. On a work workspace, an admin may need to allow the plugin first, under Workspace settings, then Plugins.

Using it with a Dot

Dots are OpenAI's always-on agents in ChatGPT, and they use plugins that are already connected. After creating a Dot in the desktop app or on chatgpt.com in a desktop browser, open Settings, then Customize, then Plugins, and choose Graphify. The user decides which Graphify actions the Dot may run on its own and which it must ask about. While a Dot researches in the background, OpenAI keeps connected apps read-only, so it will not save a note or switch workspace until asked and approved.

Asking questions

Mention Graphify in the message, for example @Graphify Show my indexed repositories and help me choose one to explore. The listing also suggests asking how authentication works in a selected repository, or for the likely impact of a code change and its linked tests. The graph tags each edge EXTRACTED, INFERRED or AMBIGUOUS, and Graphify advises opening the cited file and line before changing code. Some tools save a note or change the selected workspace, so those requests should be read before approval.

Limits

The plugin does not search the public web, run SQL or deploy anything. A repository that is still building, or that sits in another workspace, comes back empty. It does not replace the open-source engine (uv tool install graphifyy and graphify install), which registers a skill with a local editor, and that install does not connect ChatGPT, Codex or a Dot. If Graphify is missing from Settings, then Plugins, it may be unavailable on the plan, region or workspace. Dots are still rolling out by plan and region.
